چکیده

A continuous-time (CT) sigma-delta (ΣΔ) modulator clocked at 128 MHz with a hybrid active-passive loop filter is presented for WCDMA applications. The proposed 5-order loop filter arch itecture mainly consists of two passive integrators and three active integrators. To erase the summation amplifier used in the chain of integrators with weighted feedforward summat ion (CIFF) topology, the capacitive feedforward structure is employed. In addition, local feedback resistors form the bridge-T network to reduce the chip area. The p rototype chip is fabricated with TSMC 0.18 μm CMOS technology. Under the supply voltage of 1.8 V, measured results have achieved the best FOM of 2.67 pJ/conv, a dynamic range of 62 dB, a SNDR of 60.26 dB, an ENOB of 9.72 bit, IM3 of -48 dB and a power consumption of 9 mW over a 2 MHz signal bandwidth. Including pads, the chip area is 0.642 (1.07 x 0.6) mm .

The rapid scaling in modern CMOS technology has motivated the researchers to design new analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architectures that can properly work in lower supply voltage. An exchanging the data quantization procedure from the amplitude to the time domain, can be a promising alternative well adapt with the technology scaling. This paper is going to review the recent development in t...

Quadrature delta sigma modular design with adjustable bandwidth and center frequency

In this paper, a flexible Continuous time (CT) feedforward (FF) quadrature delta sigma modulator (QDSM) with variable bandwidth (BW) is proposed. The modulator BW and center frequency (fc) are variable which can be adjusted with two separate parameters. The modulator signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) will be optimized by these parameters at every center frequency and bandwidth. The modulator BW is ch...

A Wideband High Dynamic Range Continuous-Time Sigma-Delta ADC for Wireless Applications

In recent years, the research toward the development of high speed and high resolution analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) has been equally driven by the demand of high-speed wire line and wireless communication services. Delta-Sigma ADCs are widely used in wireless applications due to their oversampling and noise shaping characteristics. This thesis aims to design a continuous-time sigma-delta...

Performance Scrutiny of Two Control Schemes Based on DSM and HB in Active Power Filter

This paper presents a comparative analysis between two current control strategies, constant source power and generalized Fryze current, used in Active Power Filter (APF) applications having three different modulation methods. The Hysteresis Band (HB) and first-order Delta-Sigma Modulation (DSM) as well as the second-order DSM is applied. The power section of the active power filter is viewed as...

Excess Loop Delay compensated Electro-Mechanical Bandpass Sigma-Delta Modulator for Gyroscopes

This paper presents a new excess loop delay (ELD) compensated micro-electro-mechanical sigma-delta modulator (Σ∆M) incorporating a gyroscope in series with a second-order electrical bandpass filter. The bandpass filter is optimized for large ELDs and is realized in a feedforward structure. The Σ∆M is implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) emulating continuous-time (CT) behavior i...
